Piano Lessons

Overview

Whether you aspire to play Bach or Alicia Keys, El Segundo Arts Academy's dedicated piano instructors will help their students become the pianist they want to be. Our faculty will teach the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate favorite songs and soundtracks into the lessons. You do not need a piano at home to take lessons; a simple full size digital piano or electronic keyboard will work great in the first year.

Our piano instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with each individual or parent to craft a lesson plan that fits the student’s unique needs and favorite types of music. Whether your kid is taking their first lesson, or already playing in local bands, our teachers will share their love for the piano and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

What styles of piano do you teach?

We teach all styles, from classical and jazz to rock, pop and blues.

What will my child learn from piano lessons at the Academy?

Whether your kid wants to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, Harry Potter or Super Mario Bros., our teachers are dedicated to helping students become the pianist they want to be. Instructors will teach the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate favorite songs or soundtracks into the lessons.

Does my child have to know how to read music?

No. Beginners are welcome!

Do I need an acoustic piano to learn the instrument?

No, you do not need a piano at home to take lessons. A simple full size digital piano will suffice in the first year. For younger kids, an electronic keyboard will work great.

Are there piano recitals?

Absolutely! Every May, our students have the opportunity to perform in front of their family and friends. We also have the Home Concert Series, which is a big success with everyone, and a great preparation for the big recital.

Unlike most of other music schools, we do not charge students a fee to perform, and admission is free. We do raise donations (contributions are optional) for nonprofit institutions that offer music programs to underprivileged children. We believe that philanthropy and music go hand in hand.
